Message From Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai
Narok is one of the largest counties in Kenya- the fourth populous in the Great Rift Valley, bequeathed with a bouquet of resources, both natural and human.
The county is home to the globally towering tourism magnet, the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a gem in the Kenya tourism circuit.
This iconic game reserve is the most recognizable landmark in Kenya and around the world, being the poster image of Africa’s tourism.
Narok County has rich soils, vast lands, dotted with flat lands with a stretching belt of the Mau Forest, and abundant rainfall in most areas, which supports the growing of wheat, maize, potatoes and livestock farming.
Narok County can be ably described as a county with twin economic strengths, namely tourism and agribusiness.
The county’s topography, a holiday paradise, wildlife and its proximity to Nairobi makes it cross-roads County of opportunity, holiday and business.
Since the advent of devolved government, the county has scaled up its amenities, and spread out these facilities throughout the six sub-counties.
The Narok county CIDP and the Urban Strategic Development Plan are blueprints that are set to slowly but firmly steer the transformative outlook of the County, put money in each farmer’s and investor’s pocket and scale up collective access to resources, opportunities and development impulses while turning Narokians dreams into realities.
The residents of Narok have a huge market to sell their products and skills as we pay testament to the commitment of my government to decentralize the ideals of good governance and common good of the community.
The residents of Nairobi who dream of tranquility from the hustles and bustles of the city and more space have an option right at their door-step.
On the strength of our development roadmap, we are keen to scale up employment and income creation, bond to control supply and demand, availability of goods and services, county competitiveness and attractiveness to investment and revenue base as we scale the development terrains as a county.
We are also focused to the development and growth of SMES in the county, access to credit for SMES retail and whole business, access to financial support through revolving funds, market and trading areas, standardized market environment and commerce development as we take up choices that Narok County throws up to us in contexts that gives purpose to lives.
