Narok Women Representative Soipan Tuya has thrown her weight behind a motion that men should be given a fund to help them set up businesses just like women and youth.
Soipan Tuya says men have been neglected for decades yet they form majority of the nation’s tax payers.
“The spirit of this motion is the need for inclusiveness and to push Kenyans towards making the country an entrepreneurial nation by 2030.” Says Soipan.
While contributing a motion in parliament (Wednesday) sponsored by Gatanga Mp Hamphrey Njuguna, Soipan says the constitution demands that no person should be discriminated on basis of age.
The motion seeks to have a maximum of 10 Billion shillings set aside in the national budget to ensure men benefit from the national cake.
A section of female Mps have however shouted down the attempt terming the plot by male Mps as unnecessary gambling.
Among the female Mps in opposition is Othaya MP Mary Wambui who says, “Many of these men are married, why are they saying that it is not good to give women and youth money? We will buy suits for you and continue loving you as we loved you when you were young,”
Those who will benefit from the fund are men aged from 35 years and above.
