The National Council for Persons with Disabilities will donate 1,000 wheelchairs to the disabled across the country this financial year.
Council chairman David ole Sankok said the wheelchairs will help the disabled people to work.
Sankok was reacting to a story in one of the local dailies that pupils with disabilities in Kericho county are being taken to school using wheelbarrows.
He said they will visit the county on Friday and donate wheelchairs to the pupils.
Sankok was speaking to the press yesterday after donating a wheelchair to 19-year-old Geoffrey Kashao in Narok town.
“We are aware of the challenges the persons with disabilities face everyday. As a council, we will do our best to ensure their lives are improved and serve them without favour or discrimination,” he said.
