Poetess Cynthia Syntey
By Cynthia Syntey; (young and gifted Maasai lady poetess)
The King of The Jungle
I walk on the green grass
and feel it dance around me like flames
The vast wilderness
surrounded by wild life
I walk through the forest but only see a few trees
and i stand in the middle
and raise my gaze to the plains.
the pride of the jungle is what i see from afar.
Clothed in majestic splendor, the lion strides
with pride in its walk,
it manes its territory
with the kingly power it exudes.
I am in awe of the serenity in the jungle
but am saddened with equal measure
that we have no time to stare.
To see the woods we pass
where squirrels hide nuts in grass
to see in broad daylight
streams full of stars, like the sky at night
to watch beauty’s glance as it dances to the jungle’s music
What a poor life this is
when we have no time to stare
take time today
stand beneath the boughs
and stare like a sheep
shout,rant,stare and save
put up your hands for the King of the Jungle
